The cafitiere is the simplest of the coffee machines discussed. They are made of a cylindrical glass jug with a perforated plunger. Once you’ve added the coffee, a table spoon per person, boiling water is added. The plunger is then placed on top. After a couple of minutes the plunger is forced down. Much like a tea pot you only make a few cups. This means if you’re dining with a couple of friends they can be very useful.
